Dear Brothers and Sisters in Messiah,
Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! Perhaps a bit different than years past, still it is always good to take the time to thank the Lord for who He is and for what He has done! We had a few friends over and had a great meal and a good time of fellowship. We were glad to hear that most of our kids were able to get together in Nebraska to have a time of thanksgiving together as a family, carrying on at least some of the traditions we started when they were at home. Very thankful for how the Lord has worked in their lives in so many ways!
Last Monday we headed down to Wausau where I had an appointment with one of my heart doctors. No major information from the appointment except perhaps another surgery down the road if I continue going into afib. Spent the night at one of the hospitality rooms at the hospital and headed back on Tuesday. Had a good time with the Puffers in Land O’ Lakes, and the Yerks in Watersmeet. Rob and Pam recently got back from Village Missions candidate school where they were accepted as missionaries with the mission. So exciting to hear about their week and the encouragement they and the other candidates received. Pray for wisdom as each of these couples goes from here and as Village Missions seeks to place them.
Yesterday, several stayed after church as we got things ready for Christmas. Always nice to see the tree go up, along with the other decorations. Thankful for all those who stayed and helped get things ready as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!
Sunday’s message looked briefly at some of the many verses that deal with the church. The church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets…the truth of God’s word. The church was purchased by the precious blood of Jesus and is called the pillar and support of the truth. We are called and given power to be witnesses of this truth. And we, as the church, those who have repented and trusted Jesus as Savior are part of His living body with Him as the head. The major part of our time was spent in Matthew 16 where Peter says that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. This truth is the foundation of the church…Jesus is our firm foundation and nothing can shake us. The church is His church, and He is the One that will build and protect it through the centuries.
