Our Creed

  1. We believe that the Bible is our sole authority. Whatever the Bible commands us to do, those things we do; where the Bible forbids, from those we refrain and where the Bible is silent, there is freedom of opinion.
    • All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. -2 Timothy 3:16-17
    • For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. -Romans 15:4
    • For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. -Hebrews 4:12
    • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. -John 1:1
    • I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.  He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen. -Revelation 22:18-21
  2. We believe in one God, Creator of all, infinitely perfect and eternally existing as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
    • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. -John 1:1-2
    • “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:19-20
    • Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” {He said,} “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” -Acts 1:4-5-
    • For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, -Colossians 2:9
  3. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and our Savior. The divinity of Christ is the central and fundamental truth of our Christian faith.
    • But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, “I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.” Jesus *said to him, “You have said it {yourself;} nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.” -Matthew 26:63-64
    • The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God. -Luke 1:35
    • “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. -John 3:16
    • He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. -Colossians 1:15
  4. We believe that as Christians, we are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
    • And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. -Mark 16:15
    • “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” -John 13:35
    • “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:19-20
    • So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, {then} you are truly disciples of Mine; -John 8:31
  5. We believe that God freely offers salvation to all who receive it through faith in Jesus Christ.
    • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -John 3:16
    • “Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.” -Acts 10:43
    • and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. -2 Timothy 3:15
    • For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,-1 Thessalonians 5:9
  6. We believe in the baptism of believers as a sign of acceptance of a rebirth in Christ.
    • In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; -Mark 1:9-10
    • And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:18-20
    • Peter {said} to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. -Acts 2:38
    • Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you–not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience–through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, -1 Peter 3:21
  7. We believe in observing the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is open to all believers.
    • And when He had taken {some} bread {and} given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Luke 22:19
    • They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. -Acts 2:42
  8. We believe that the Holy Spirit guides, instructs and empowers followers to live a life in Jesus Christ.
    • “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is} the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, {but} you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. -John 14:15-17
    • These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. -John 14:25-26
