Dear Brothers and Sisters in Messiah,

I do want to let you know that you are invited to attend Tim and Kathy Schram’s vow renewal service tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11:00AM. They are choosing this way to celebrate being married for 50 years. There were also be refreshments following the ceremony. Praise the Lord for 50 years together!

It is hard to believe just a few days ago I was sitting on the beach watching the waves of the Atlantic Ocean…and today I’m looking out the window at church half covered with snow.  Got to snow blow this morning as we got about 6 inches yesterday.  We had a really good and restful time in Florida with two of Leslie’s sisters and their husbands joining us.  We saw many new and different things; rode an air boat in the Everglades and saw alligators, took a bus ride all the way to Key West and also went snorkeling.  It was a nice vacation…good to be back in our own bed and at church yesterday.

The Kid’s Choir sang as part of the service yesterday.  We also asked the men to help us in singing the song and several joined in.  The kids also learned the sign language to the song – Awesome God.  They all did a great job, and I think the guys liked doing it.

I am very thankful to Marc and Bob for filling in with the messages while I was gone.  Marc spoke from the book of Haggai the first Sunday.  Many good things from both of them that we need to remember.  We watched Marc online while we were in Florida.  One of the things I remember with Marc’s message was in regard to glorifying God…the idea is that we give God more weight in our lives…He is most important.  He also said that it’s not the size of the temple that is important it is the size of the God of the temple!

Bob’s message yesterday focused on Matthew 5, the beatitudes.  We need to have a clearer understanding of God’s Kingdom as we consider the sufferings of this life.  He used the illustration of his wife’s garden in helping us understand God’s Kingdom.  There is one gate for entry, there are certain rules that must be followed and much more.  Those who have trusted in Jesus, who have repented of sin, are a kingdom of priests to God who has delivered us from the power of sin.

Pastor Kevin Hausman
