From Pastor Kevin – February 1, 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Messiah,

Hard to believe it is already February!  The year does seem to be flying by.  Yesterday the kids choir sang in the morning service.  We have a much larger group this year, with over 20 kids coming to practice ranging in age from 4 up to teenagers.  It does make for an interesting mix, but it is a lot of fun working with them and they are quite enthusiastic!  With the larger number, I was thankful for Stephani help accompanying us on the piano so that I could direct and help.  Looking forward to next month.

It continues to be a strange winter this year, with not very much snow.  It has been warmer the past several days also, with temperatures almost above freezing.  This next weekend they are forecasting sub-zero temperatures…we’ll see.

Was reminded this morning about a couple in our church who started coming 4 years ago.  What a change God has made in their lives since that time.  It is exciting to see how God is using them in sharing the truth of the gospel with many different people that He brings into their lives.  Have several other people that we are getting to know now…wonder what the Lord will do in their lives???  It is exciting to see Him at work!  It is exciting to see what He is doing in the different Bible Studies we have and how so many are studying God’s word and talking about it together.

This Sunday’s message we started on a new book…Ephesians.  We looked at the usual introduction information…Paul is the author…it was written between 60 and 62 AD… while verse 1 talks about the book being written to the saints in Ephesus, it is believed that this letter was a circular written to several churches, starting with Ephesus.  We are going to be working on memorizing Ephesians 3:20-21.  I hope that the study of this book will help us individually and as a church to grow in our understanding of the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.  In the first 6 verses we see that God is the One to be blessed…to be praised and that He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.  We also see that He chose us to be in Him before the foundation of the world, He chose us to be holy and blameless.  And also that He has predestined us for adoption for the praise of His glory.  His grace toward us is truly amazing!
