Dear Brothers and Sisters in Messiah,

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  We had an enjoyable time over the holidays.  Enjoyed singing Christmas carols at the Christmas Eve service and remembering again the miracle that Jesus, the God of the universe, lived among us.  That He paid the sacrifice for our sin, that we couldn’t pay ourselves.  I am thankful that He is the One who is worthy of all praise!  Next week we will be starting up all of the Bible Studies and Youth Group again.

Our refrigerator decided to stop working over the holidays this year.  Very thankful for Leslie’s sister and her husband who made it possible for us to have a new refrigerator…just came in today.  It is wonderful to see the Lord’s provision in so many different ways.

We made a trip to Marquette last week and had dinner at Mt. Shasta…a little ways West of Marquette.  They set up some clear plastic igloos outside and then put some space heaters inside.  Quite an ingenious set up…was a beautiful place for dinner and we got to see the fog rising off the nearby frozen lake.  Looking forward to spending some time with a few of our kids and grand-kids this coming week.  They are coming out to see “all of our snow.”  They are quite excited to be coming and very much hoping to go ice-skating while they’re here.  It is strange that we are at about half of our normal snow fall, and it doesn’t look like much of a change in the weather pattern in the near future.

We are continuing our look at Psalm 119 in the messages on Sunday.  Last week we looked at the 8 words used in this longest chapter of the Bible that refer to God’s word.  As we understand each of these words more…we gain a clearer picture of what God’s word is.  This past week we looked at the many adjectives that are used throughout the psalm to describe these 8 words.  We see that God’s word is righteous, that it is better than riches.  God’s word is wonderful, and it is our counselor.  God’s word is good, it is truth, it is our comfort and our song.  God’s word is faithful, it is settled forever, it is sweeter than honey, it is light, and it is pure.  God’s word is truly amazing, and I pray that you are spending time reading it daily, perhaps start in Psalm 119.
