Dear Brothers and Sisters in Messiah,

As many of you know our kids and grandkids live mostly in Colorado, with a few in Nebraska and one in Kansas.  We have been wanting to get closer to them particularly with two new grandbabies due in November.  (Mindee and Zach’s baby is due the end of November and Rassel and Samantha’s baby is due a few weeks before that.)  A week ago, we got a phone call from the Village Missions District Representatives (DR) in the Mid-West district, asking if we would be interested in going to the church in Scotia, Nebraska.  Scotia is centrally located in Nebraska about 5 hours’ drive from most of our kids.  It looks like the closest Walmart is about an hour away in Grand Island.  We will be back in Cornhusker territory.

As we were talking with the DR on the phone it hit me, what this would involve.  We would have to leave our many dear friends here in Calumet, we would have to leave behind the UP, which we have grown so very fond of…and…that also means leaving the snow.  As the emotions came flooding in, I was a bit overwhelmed with sadness, for a time.  The Lord has done so many amazing things during our time here, we have seen many people grow in their knowledge of “the hope of His calling…”  Rob and Pam are serving the Lord down in Watersmeet, and several others are considering where the Lord would have them continue their service to Him.  It will not be an easy thing for us to say good-bye.  Still…we know that the Lord is at work preparing for the new Village Missionary who will be coming here, eventually, and preparing us and the people of Scotia for our arrival there.

We will have two more Sundays here, and then plan to load up our moving truck Thursday the 20th.  We plan a slow drive down to Nebraska and will arrive in Scotia on Monday the 24th.  A few of our kids are going to be coming up to help with the move and helping drive vehicles down south; it will be quite a caravan heading out.

It is never easy to say good-bye…and yet it is exciting to see the Lord working in so many ways…  We are thankful to know the One who is in control of all things and to be able to serve Him with so many amazing people, whether in the UP or in Nebraska.

By God’s Amazing Grace,
Pastor Kevin Hausman
